To promote the work of op shops and their volunteers, Alistair has updated his brochure, Op Shop ‘til you Drop in Frankston.

The brochure lists Frankston’s Op Shops, their location, opening times, specialities, collection information and volunteering opportunities.

“I’m a big fan of Op Shops; they make money for charities, promote recycling and help families make ends meet with quality goods at a fraction of the price they might pay elsewhere,” Alistair says.

Copies of the brochure Op Shop ‘til you drop in Frankston will be available at Op Shops and Neighbourhood Houses throughout Frankston and from Alistair's office at 140 Young Street, Frankston, phone 9783 9822, or send him an email.

Charity Bin GuidelinesBack to top

Rubbish dumped around clothing bins is a major problem for charities and local councils.

Charities are always grateful for donations to help fund their programs and services, but it is costing almost a million dollars every year to collect dumped and unusable goods and take them to landfill.

Some charities with op shops will sort your
pre-loved clothes into what is wearable and what can be sold on for rags. Others cannot do this.

Before donating, please:

Sort through the items you no longer need and dispose of any broken or unusable items
Deposit only clean clothes in charity bins
For items other than clothes, visit your preferred charity personally or arrange for a representative to visit you at home
To have a recycling bin, charities need to be members of the National Association of Charitable Recycling Organisations (NACRO) or a fully charitable organisation such as a church group. Check the bin for a NACRO sticker

Please be aware:

some shops are run as businesses
some have paid coordinators
some are run entirely by volunteers
