Alistair Harkness MP - State Member for Frankston

About Alistair Harkness

Alistair Harkness is passionate about standing up for Frankston and creating positive change in the bay-side suburb.

A member of the Parliamentary Education and Training Committee, his key areas of interest are improving conditions and learning outcomes in our schools; roads and road-safety; employment; and the environment.

Alistair first became involved in politics after his conscience was pricked by the deterioration of public institutions such as schools, hospitals and police throughout the 1990s.

His political career began as an electorate officer for Steve Bracks, and his previous employment experience included animal care, retail and industrial roles including a position on BHP Westernport’s galvanising and paint lines.

Alistair was Treasurer of the West Gate Bridge Memorial Park Association, a not-for-profit group established to construct a lasting memorial to all workers who have lost their lives in workplace accidents.

Alistair has lived in Frankston his whole life, and wouldn't live anywhere else. He lives with his wife Tawny, baby daughter Kirsten, and pet dog Tigger.

Some people will knock Frankston - maybe because they are jealous of our suburb. But Alistair will always strongly and unapologetically stand up for Frankston.

Quite simply, Frankston is the place to be!
